I have noticed that the politically correct secular Leftists (of many stripes, including many who imagine themselves to be anti-Left) have begun hurling the accusation 'conspiracy theory' around with increasing frequency; in much the same way they do 'racist', 'sexist', 'fascist' and the like.
Anyone who joins-the-dots and seeks deep causal explanations that are not pre-approved by the mainstream channels is now being dubbed a conspiracy theorist - and this includes religious and spiritual people who attribute the fundamental nature of the world to 'supernatural' causes.
I regard increasing usage of the conspiracy theorist slander as a
sign of escalating fear and desperation among the ruling Establishment
ultra-elite. It means that they - correctly - perceive themselves to be
in acute danger of losing their grip.
'Conspiracy theorist' has become a mechanism of control and exclusion; a threat and an aggression; a scapegoating. Or, at least, that is what is being attempted...
But I regard this universe of reality as fundamentally alive, conscious, purposive - a web of relationships and meanings. Reality is not a random, contingent product of mechanical forces going nowhere - that is an error, a delusion and a manipulation; distinctive to a small social class, in a tiny corner of the world, over a handful of generations.
To call somebody a conspiracy theorist is to call them a fool - either insane or mentally deficient; and therefore to avoid engagement. But I aspire to The Way of the Fool - so that is a plus for me, a compliment!
So I embrace the label - and would advise others to do the same!
